A New Day!

Thought I would share a few things I’m working on to get me back in the swing of things!  I’m having some issues getting my photos up…..It’s been awhile and posting photos have changed….Hmmmmmmm…..Guess I’ll have to keep trying until I get it right….!! There should be a photo on here of my newest quilt I’m working on from Bear Creek Quilt Company called Meadow…….

Off to figure out how to post these photos………Have an awesome day!

A Very Long Year

IMG_0117I haven’t posted anything in a year for several reasons……In April of 2016 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer…

My initial treatment started at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fl….I won’t go into all the details as to why this happened, or that didn’t happen, or why this wasn’t done, but I was given one round of chemo (oh, let me tell you that is some nasty crap) which, literally, just about killed me…As my son, who is an RN said…”You dodged a bullet”…..and I did….After the chemo, I suffered a major blood clot in my right arm and ended up going to my local ER to see what was wrong….The doctor in the ER said was the biggest clot he had ever seen…Needless to say, I was admitted and spent a almost a week in the hospital,  I decided to be transferred to The Florida Cancer Center in Gainesville for any further cancer treatment and that’s where Dr. Gordon discovered I did not have lung cancer, but instead, metastatic breast cancer….That’s still not good, but of the two, it’s the easier to treat and my life’s longevity goes up……

Now through all of this, my Mom, whom I have lived with and taken care of for the last ten years, was having major health issues to include diverticulitis which she was admitted to the VA for treatment in March of 2016…While a patient there, she ended up falling and breaking her hip…..Total negligence on the VA’s part, but I did not have the time or stamina to pursue a lawsuit due to my own health issues………..She was then admitted to a rehab facility/nursing home where she went downhill fairly quickly…..We brought her home and had Hospice come in to help with her….My goodness I do not have enough good things to say about Hospice….They are an amazing organization! She was admitted to Hospice House and passed on March 17th…She never knew I had cancer…Of course, she does now and I’m quite sure she’s still shaking her finger at me….

Through all of this it’s been a long, depressing year for me…..But today is a new day,  I am doing good and my Mom’s in Heaven with the good Lord….

Here’s a pic of my Mom with her great granddaughter when she was just a baby………

I do miss my Mom…..
